Therapeutic potential of ceremonies

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS

Many people turn to ayahuasca as a potential path for addressing PTSD. Why? A growing number of studies and personal reports suggest it may help individuals confront deeply rooted trauma, process unresolved experiences, and loosen the emotional grip of past events.

Rather than simply masking symptoms, ayahuasca is often described as helping people revisit the source of their pain from a new perspective like stepping outside a burning house to finally see its structure clearly. This shift can support emotional release, foster healing, and help individuals move forward with greater distance from the experiences that once defined their suffering.

ANXIETY & FEAR

Like with conditions such as depression, ayahuasca is often described as working at the source of anxiety rather than merely easing its symptoms. Instead of quieting the noise on the surface, it seeks to uncover the roots beneath helping individuals confront the fears that fuel their distress and release the emotional burdens that sustain it, including lingering guilt.

Rather than placing a lid on anxiety, the experience is often seen as pulling it out by the roots bringing hidden tensions into the light so genuine healing can begin. In this way, it may help transform fear into understanding and restore a sense of inner balance.

DEPRESSION

Although ayahuasca is not presented as a direct cure for depression, it may help individuals uncover the deeper origins of their suffering. The experience can foster a renewed connection with oneself and offer insights that support healthier ways of coping and healing over time.

Rather than simply lifting the weight of depression, ayahuasca is often described as illuminating the shadows where it begins like lighting a candle in a dark room so you can finally see the path forward. Through this process of self-understanding, many find the clarity and inner resources needed to gradually move beyond it.

BURNOUT

In a world weighed down by constant pressure, endless responsibilities, and mounting stress, it’s no surprise that burnout has become so common. Many people feel drained, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their own vitality.

Ayahuasca is often described as offering a chance to pause, reset, and release the heavy load of accumulated worries. It can create the space to let go of what no longer serves you and reconnect with a deeper sense of clarity and purpose. Like clearing the ashes after a long fire, the experience may leave you feeling renewed as if beginning again with fresh energy, a lighter mind, and a clean inner horizon.

FEAR OF DEATH

The fear of death lies at the core of the human experience. Often hidden beneath the surface, this deep and instinctive fear quietly shapes our choices, behaviors, and sense of security throughout life.

For many, the ayahuasca experience can feel like a symbolic encounter with death itself a profound surrender of the ego and a glimpse beyond ordinary perception. Participants frequently describe a sense of stepping past the boundaries of the visible world, confronting the unknown, and returning with a transformed understanding of existence.

It is not about dying, but about facing the illusion of what we believe ourselves to be, like watching an old identity dissolve so something deeper can emerge. In this process, fear may lose its grip, allowing individuals to meet the idea of mortality with greater acceptance, peace, and perspective.

GRIEF

Much like our instinctive fear of dying, unresolved grief can quietly shape the way we live. Working with Ayahuasca in the context of loss offers a path toward deep healing, guiding people to face the pain they have avoided and gradually soften their resistance to what cannot be changed. In this process, many feel they can reconnect with the essence or memory of their loved one, reconcile unspoken emotions, and release the weight they have been carrying.

Grief often feels like an anchor dropped into the heart; Ayahuasca can help lift that anchor, allowing the mourner to breathe again, honour the bond that remains, and step forward without guilt. Rather than “moving on” in the sense of leaving the past behind, it becomes a courageous act of moving forward with love integrated, acceptance embodied, and the departed woven into one’s story in a new and peaceful way.

BODY TOXICITY

Ayahuasca and Kambo are often described as a profound internal resets, supporting the body’s natural ability to purge what no longer serves it. Through its intense cleansing process, many people experience the release of accumulated toxins, emotional residue, and harmful habits that have taken root over time. This deep purification can feel like clearing a long-neglected house, opening the windows, sweeping out the dust, and letting fresh air reach every hidden corner.

More than a physical detox, it can mark a decisive turning point: a bold declaration that the body is not a storage space for what harms us, but a sanctuary to be protected. From this renewed baseline, individuals are often inspired to care for themselves with greater awareness, choosing nourishment, balance, and a lifestyle aligned with well-being.

WEAK INMUNE SYSTEM

Emerging research suggests that Ayahuasca and Kambo may influence how immune cells are mobilized throughout the body, potentially enhancing the system’s ability to detect and respond to illness. Rather than remaining static, these defensive cells appear to be redistributed where they are needed most, supporting a more coordinated and effective immune response.

It is as if the body’s internal guardians are called to attention, redeployed like a well-organized defense force instead of a scattered militia. The bold implication is that healing is not only about removing what harms us, but about awakening the body’s own intelligence reminding it how to protect, repair, and restore balance from within.

ADDICTIVE & DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIORS

Overcoming addiction and deeply rooted unhealthy behaviors can feel like trying to escape a maze that keeps rebuilding itself. For this reason, Ayahuasca is often incorporated into detoxification programs, supporting individuals as they confront and release the invisible chains that bind them to harmful cycles. The process invites a profound inner shift, not only loosening the grip of the habit, but also opening the door to self-forgiveness for the pain and consequences those patterns have created.

In this sense, the experience becomes less about fighting a habit and more about reclaiming authorship of one’s life.

A radical declaration that the past no longer holds the pen.

Suggested Diet & Preparation

AYAHUASCA / YAGÉ

All participants are encouraged to follow a preparation diet to ensure the best possible experience. Dieting helps keep the body and mind clean, allowing us to better process the medicine and avoid physical discomfort.

Some people choose to start the diet weeks or months in advance, which is always beneficial. Otherwise, we will begin the diet 5 to 7 days before the ceremony.

We will avoid:

- Dairy or dairy-containing products

- Red meat and pork

- Spicy food

- Garlic

- Alcohol and drugs

We recommend a vegetarian/vegan diet or a light diet that includes chicken and/or fish.

On the day of the ceremony, we will have breakfast and can eat lightly, but we will fast from noon until the ceremony.

Additionally, dieting refers to the care we take with everything we consume, including media, social networks, relationships, and activities.

KAMBO

We will follow the same light diet and care regimen used for Ayahuasca/Yagé ceremonies both before and after the Kambo ceremony. To receive Kambo, you must fast for at least 6 hours prior to the application.

If you are participating in a Yagé ceremony the night before, you may drink liquids as usual, since Yagé is not considered food.

In the hours leading up to the Kambo ceremony, you should only drink water, preferably lukewarm, and only as much as necessary to stay well hydrated.

You will begin drinking water specifically for the ceremony once we are together.

Ayahuasca can be safe when approached with respect, careful preparation, and skilled guidance. True safety begins long before the ceremony itself through thorough screening, clear awareness of contraindications, and the steady presence of experienced facilitators throughout the process.

The experience can be powerful and, at times, overwhelming. Reactions such as fear, emotional intensity, nausea, or physical discomfort may arise, yet these effects are temporary and often understood as part of a deeper transformative process. Ayahuasca is not a casual journey but a profound inner expedition like entering a dense jungle of the mind where proper guidance is the compass that keeps you oriented.

Because of its intensity, this path is not suitable for everyone. Choosing to participate should always be a conscious and informed decision, grounded in personal responsibility and readiness.

Is Ayahuasca safe?

No previous experience with plant medicine is necessary. Some participants arrive as complete beginners, others have explored these practices before, and many have never encountered psychedelics at all. What truly matters is not your past experience, but your openness, your willingness to listen and receive whatever insights may emerge.

Think of it less as a skill to master and more as a door to step through. Experience may show you the path, but intention is the key that opens it. Come with curiosity, presence, and readiness... the rest unfolds from there.

Do I need previous experience with ayahuasca before the retreat?

Our medicine is born in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, in Putumayo Department, Colombia. A land where nature still speaks in its original voice. There, guided by the wisdom of our teachers and the traditions of the local communities, we prepare the medicine ourselves with care, respect, and intention. Each step of the process honors ancestral knowledge passed down through generations.

Sustainability is not just a principle for us it is a commitment. For every plant that is harvested, many more seeds are returned to the earth, ensuring the forest continues to thrive. The medicine is gathered in collaboration with the people of the territory, following practices that protect the balance of the ecosystem and safeguard its fauna and flora.

We see the jungle not as a resource to be used, but as a living partner to be protected. The forest gives, and we give back like tending a sacred fire that must never be allowed to fade.

Where does our medicine come from?

Is it from a sustainable source?
